Ima Read That Bitch
“IMA READ THAT BITCH”: An international video art festival, with a special focus on queer / trans / postcolonial / decolonial / non-western politics of contemporary feminist thought(s).
On 8 March 2015, a group of Tromsø Art Academy students collectively curated and organised a video art screening: “IMA READ THAT BITCH”. The screening featured video works from South Africa, Nigeria, the Netherlands, Sweden, Canada and Germany.
“IMA READ THAT BITCH” was a showcase of video works that the organisers considered to be meaningful articulations of their individual experiences, and understandings, of what it means to be a feminist, today. The festival programme included the launch of ‘Chapter I’, which was to become the first volume of IMA READ’s subsequent series of publications for collective education on intersectional feminism.
